Division of Electrical Sciences of the Indian Instititute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) proposes to conduct an international conference on the theme: Managing Complexity in a Distibuted World (MCDES), in Bangalore, India, during May 27-31, 2008. This conference will be a part of the centenary celebrations of IISc. It will serve as a forum to present current work by researchers from around the world, and act as a venue to provide stimulating discussions, resulting in cross-fertilization of ideas from diverse subject areas of electrical sciences, such as computing, communications, networking, signal processing, VLSI design, energy systems, machine learning, and etc. The conference will be unique in that its sessions and tracks will be planned to promote such inter-disciplinary interaction.

MCDES 2008 will focus on all issues related to managing complexity in a distributed world, such as, technologies, algorithms, energy issues, system design and implementation, applications, tehno-economic and environmental issues, etc., from the electrical & electronics engineering, communication, and computing points of view. In addition to technical sessions consisting of contributed papers, the conference will include invited and plenary talks, special sessions on inter-disciplinary areas, tutorials, and panel discussions.
