Saarang is IIT-M’s annual cultural festival. The very word generates excitement among youth across the country. Drawing more than 20,000 people in the 18-35 age group, Saarang sets the standard as far as cultural festivals go. This annual festival conducted by IIT-Madras and held on its vast and serene campus is forgotten by none who attend it, whether they participate or come to witness the spectacle.

Saarang is the traditional meeting place for the young and those young at heart. Saarang is characterised with the days jam-packed with events and competitions, which present one with an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of vast crowds.

Backwaters is one of the most highly anticipated management events in the country and B-school students across the country look forward to it each year. Last year’s Backwaters saw more than 1000 online participants and 500 students coming down to campus to take part in it. This year the fest is even bigger than ever before with corporate as well as participation from foreign management students. The flagship event of Backwaters is Reliance White Knight, in which participants have to come up with a business plan based on the theme of ‘Urban Development which will help solve teething problems of urban India. In association with Sony Entertainment Television (SET), Backwaters also present a unique event.

Backwaters 2008 celebrates the on-going evolution of Business in India and extends a challenge to all those who would like to play a greater part in shaping the course of things to come. Don’t be content with the way things are, step up and incite the change – not only in the world at large, but within yourself. Evolution is not about being what you are. Mood Indigo, the annual cultural festival of IIT Bombay is the biggest cultural celebration of the country. With a participation of around 60,000 students from over more than 450 colleges spanning the length and breadth of the nation, Four Days and Four Nights with the euphoric start and jubilant ending collaring every aspect of music, drama, dance, exhibitions, films and competitions, that have a distinct flavor and truly embodies the spirit of the youth.

KK, Shaan, Kailash Kher, Lucky Ali , Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Parikrama, Indian Ocean, Hema Malini are a few names from the endless list who made this event the mightiest celebration of the year.
